Holiday cheer is truly in the air! On Saturday, December 11, 2021, National CORE hosted Colonies Holiday Miracles. This is an annual event for select children in need and supported by local business owners giving back to the Inland Empire. Since 2007, Colonies Holiday Miracles has served over 1,500 children, helping to make the holiday season more accessible by aiding families in need.
This year, OPARC was selected to be one of the recipients for Colonies Holiday Miracles. Two of the individuals we support were chosen to have their children participate in the event. One person from OPARC’s day program as well as one from our work activities program. Gifts that these individuals received included gift cards to grocery and clothing stores which will help these families just in time for the holidays.
Colonies Holiday Miracles was an emotional and impactful experience for the recipients, with one parent mentioning that it was, “A kid in a candy store day.” Along with the gifts received, they were able to meet with local firefighters and truly get into the holiday spirit! They expressed heaps of gratitude to OPARC and the Colonies for making this possible.
OPARC has been supporting and transforming the lives of individuals with disabilities since 1951. With day programs within our adult development centers and employment supports through business services, OPARC assists nearly 800 adults with disabilities within the Inland Empire.
