Grant helps OPARC continue to support, employ, and transform the lives of adults with disabilities

INLAND EMPIRE, CA, July 7, 2022 — Montclair-based non-profit OPARC today announced it has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Bank of America to help support its workforce development programs. OPARC provides life-enhancing services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The grant will help OPARC staff provide participants with hands-on job coaching, training, and job placement and support its Workforce Development and Integrated Employment Programs.

“We are thankful to Bank of America, for the support which will help us to develop even more worthwhile partnerships with area businesses and to train and equip participants to find their ideal job with the help of  job coaches,” said Stacey Proctor, OPARC’s President/CEO. “Job training and placement is a critical element to the lives and goals of the people we serve. Not only does it build self-esteem and pride, but it also allows our participants to spend their own money and be contributing members of our communities.”

OPARC is one of the largest vendors under contract with the San Gabriel and Pomona Regional Centers, funding from Bank of America will support its enhanced day program and employment services.

“OPARC does an incredible job providing support and creating pathways to employment for people with disabilities. It is important for the private sector to play a role in helping get people on stable economic footing, and their work to assist adults with disabilities is a great example of that” said Bansree Parikh, President, Bank of America Inland Empire.

OPARC, a non-profit based in Montclair since 1950, has a mission to support, employ, and transform the lives of people with disabilities. OPARC serves more than 800 developmentally disabled adults in Southern California by offering critical employment and developmental programs. They are known for remarkable success in finding jobs for participants and ensuring success through ongoing training, guidance, and supervision.
