Cal Poly Pomona Motor Development Clinic Announces Summer Programs
The Cal Poly Pomona Motor Development Clinic would like to partner with you and your organization to create a more inclusive community.
Here at the Motor Development Clinic, we work with children with disabilities ages 5-17 that have delays in their motor skills throughout the year. During our school year Program, we provide our participants with individualized movement programs during two week programs through 1:1 or 1:2 lessons. During the summer, we offer two camps during a 5-week program: o Kids Camp for ages 5-17, and a Fitness and Sports Transition Training (FASTT) Camp for ages 18-45. Both of our
camps provide positive learning experiences and socialization in a group setting to increase motor skill, physical activity, and fitness. The dates uf our camps are June 18″ to July 18%, with no session on Thursday July 4th.
The Kids Camp is a twice a week camp on Tuesdays and Thursdays, currently from 10am-1pm. During this program, we offer different movement experiences that aim to increase participants motor and fitness skills. The activities that our participants take part in consist of different Sports skills, physical fitness, rhythms and dance, cooperative games, and swimming. The activities are designed by our instructors to allow our participants to focus on different areas, such as gaining self-confidence and appropriate social interaction.
Our FASTT Camp is a once a week camp on Wednesdays, currently from 9am-12pm. The sessions consist of fitness and flexibility activities, cardiovascular activities, and sports skills. Our instructors create lessons that provide the participants with instruction and experience with: different fitness concepts such as strength training and cardiovascular endurance; different fitness equipment such as weight machines and jump-ropes; and sport specific skills. We apply all of these to promote and encourage lifelong fitness and physical activity.
Please find enclosed brochures for both of our camps. If you could pass this on to anyone that might be interested in our program, we would greatly appreciate it. To register, simply complete the registration form and mail it back to us with a deposit.
